HP XC System Software Installation Guide Version 4.0

All nodes other than the head node must mount Lustre file systems in foreground mode;
that is, they cannot use the bg option on any file system. This means that when the nodes
have booted, all file systems are mounted on the nodes and jobs can run on the nodes.
You must use the lnet: protocol in the mount directives in the /etc/sfstab file. You cannot
use the HTTP protocol in the /etc/sfstab file.
You must use the server=name mount option. This option is not required by the SFS
service; however, it is required for the correct operation of the HP XC cluster_config
utility.
HP recommends that you also use the fs=name option
5.7.1.3.5 Step 5: Create an /etc/sfstab File on the Head Node
When the SFS service is started, it creates a local /etc/sfstab file from the /etc/
sfstab.proto file.
To ensure correct operation of the imaging process, the /etc/sfstab file must exist before you
run the cluster_config utility.
To create an /etc/sfstab file on the head node:
# service sfs gensfstab
5.7.1.3.6 Step 6: Mount the hptc_cluster File System
To mount the hptc_cluster file system (or other file systems) specified in the /etc/
sfstab.proto file, enter the following command:
# service sfs start
When the SFS service starts, all file systems specified in the /etc/sfstab.proto are mounted.
You can confirm this by running the mount command with no arguments.
5.7.2 HP Serviceguard
HP Serviceguard is the service availability tool recommended for use on an HP XC system.
If you intend to use Serviceguard as the availability tool, you must have in your possession the
Serviceguard license, the distribution media, and the product documentation. Use the Serviceguard
documentation to install the product now. The documentation is available from the following
website:
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/ha.html
The HP XC System Software has been tested with the following Serviceguard for Linux RPMs.
You must use the rpm -ivh command to install the RPMs in the following order:
1. pidentd-*.{architecture}
2. qs-*.{architecture}
3. serviceguard-*.{architecture}
NOTE: HP recommends that you obtain the latest available release of Serviceguard for Linux
Version 11.18 and all available patches so that you install the most up-to-date version of
Serviceguard. New versions of Serviceguard Version 11.18 interoperate with HP XC Version 4.0
as expected.
The quorum server RPM, qs-*.product.redhat.{architecture}, is required only if you
plan to configure a quorum server. If your particular configuration uses lock LUNs exclusively,
you do not install the quorum server RPM.
The Serviceguard software contains two modules that are built against the kernel.
After installing the Serviceguard software, proceed to “Deciding on the Method to Achieve
Quorum for HP Serviceguard Clusters” (page 86) to define and configure the method to achieve
quorum.
