HP XC System Software Release Notes for Version 4.0

7.8 Serviceguard Monitors Only Bonded InfiniBand Networks
Serviceguard is configured on HP XC to monitor the administration and interconnect networks
in the cluster. However, Serviceguard cannot successfully monitor an InfiniBand network unless
it is bonded.
If you require Serviceguard for Linux to monitor the InfiniBand network on your cluster, it must
be bonded.
7.9 Use Caution When Powering Off a Node Running Serviceguard
When you stop a node that is actively running Serviceguard for Linux, HP recommends that
you use the stopsys command as described in the HP XC System Software Administration Guide.
The stopsys command stops the node cleanly and ensures that all running Serviceguard
packages are transferred to the other running node in the cluster. You can also choose to stop
availability entirely before stopping a node or nodes in the cluster.
HP does not recommend turning off power to a node with the HP XC power command or
through the ILO interface. Stopping a node with these methods might result in Serviceguard
packages not being failed over but put into a disabled state.
When you use the iLO power off command or the HP XC power command, the node attempts
to perform a clean shut down before the power is removed. However, at times power is removed
before all Serviceguard services have been failed over.
If your Serviceguard cluster has services that are disabled, use the following command to enable
the services to run again:
1. To enable a disabled service:
# /usr/local/cmcluster/bin/cmmodpkg -e -n {node_to_run_it_on} service_name
2. Run the command shown in step 1 for every service that is disabled, and be sure to place
services that depend on the HP XC database on the same node where the HP XC database
is running.
