Capacity specification for creating a volume in XP P9500 or XP24000/XP20000
When you create a volume in an XP P9500 or XP24000/XP20000 and you specify a volume capacity
of 2,949,120 MB (approximately 2.8TB) or more, creation does not succeed.
Symptoms
GUI
In the following dialog boxes, when creating a volume, the creation operation does not complete and
issues one of the following errors:
Target dialog boxes
Create Volumes dialog box
Allocate Volumes dialog box
Allocate Like Volumes dialog box
Error message in operating one of the previous dialog boxes
The capacity value is outside the valid range. Specify a value from 46.88
MB to 2.99 TB.(KAIC15294-E)
Error message in executing the task
An invalid capacity was specified for the desired emulation
type.(KAIC07145-E)
CLI
When the CLI AddLogicalUnit command is executed, the creating volume generates the following
error:
KAIC90083-E Device Manager Server Exception:
error code= 7145
error level= 2
error source= StorageManager.AddLogicalUnit
description=An invalid capacity was specified for the desired
emulation type.
Condition of occurrence
GUI
Condition of occurrence in operating one of the dialog boxes
This issue occurs when all of the following conditions are met:
Capacity that is greater than 3,145,663.75 MB (approximately 2.99TB) is specified for a volume.
Basic Volume is selected as the volume type.
When using the Allocate Volumes dialog box or Allocate Like Volumes dialog box, there is no
volume that meets the specified condition in the dialog box.
