12 Setting up Host Data Collector
This chapter explains how to set up Host Data Collector.
Installing Host Data Collector
This section explains how to install Host Data Collector on a computer other than the management
server. For details on the machine requirements, see the Release Notes.
Prerequisites for installing Host Data Collector (Windows)
The items that you can specify during installation of Host Data Collector, such as the installation path
and port number, have default values.
We recommend using the default values, when possible.
The table below describes the items that need to be entered during Host Data Collector installation.
If you do not want to use the default values, see the table for a list of valid values.

The path to the folder in which Host Data Collector will be installed. The
default installation path is as follows.
Program-Files-folder
If you do not use the default installation folder, make sure that the
installation location satisfies the following conditions:
Length of the absolute path: No more than 64 bytes
Specifiable characters:
A to Z a to z 0 to 9 single byte spaces . _ ( ) \ :
Other conditions:
Do not include consecutive spaces.
Do not include a single byte space at the beginning or end of the
folder name.
Do not specify the root of a drive as the destination.
Do not specify a folder that is set for the %ProgramFiles% envir-
onment variable in Windows (IPF or x64).
