Registering a Host Data Collector computer on the management server
If Host Data Collector is installed on a computer other than the management server, you need to add
the information for that computer to the properties in the hostdatacollectors.properties file
on the Device Manager server.
When the information for the Host Data Collector computer is registered on the management server,
you can register hosts and check the volume usage on each host.

Logging in with administrator permissions (for Windows) or as a root user (for Linux)

NOTE:
To manage virtualization servers, you need to install Host Data Collector on a Windows computer.
Information to collect in advance
Information for the computer where Host Data Collector is installed
IP address or host name
Port number of the Web server (when managing normal hosts or virtual machines)
The default is 23051/tcp.
Port number of the RMI registry (when managing virtualization servers)
You can check this value by using the hdc.common.rmi.registryPort and hdc.com-
mon.rmi.ssl.registryPort properties in the hdcbase.properties file.
Port number of the RMI server (when managing virtualization servers)
You can check this value by using the hdc.common.rmi.serverPort and hdc.com-
mon.rmi.ssl.serverPort properties in the hdcbase.properties file.
Port number of the class loader (when managing virtualization servers)
You can check this value by using the hdc.common.http.serverPort and hdc.com-
mon.https.serverPort properties of the hdcbase.properties file.
To register a Host Data Collector computer on the management server:
1. Stop the services of P9000 Command View AE Suite product.
In Windows:
Select Start > All Programs > HP P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite > Manage
Services > Stop.
In Linux:
installation-directory-for-Common-Component/bin/hcmdssrv -stop
