HP StorageWorks P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite Software 7.1.1 Administrator Guide (web) (TB581-96065, September 2011)

To configure the settings:
1. Install the Device Manager agent.
To acquire performance information, a RAID Manager/LIB is necessary. If you install the Device
Manager agent on a host, the necessary RAID Manager/LIB is installed. However, if the host
OS is UNIX, and a RAID Manager/LIB is already installed on the host, the RAID Manager/LIB
is not overwritten. If this is the case, install the proper RAID Manager/LIB, as shown in the following
table.
Table 52 RAID Manager/LIB required to acquire performance information
VersionStorage system

01-12-03/03 or laterXP24000/XP20000
01-12-03/03 or laterXP12000/XP10000/SVS200
2. Use the Device Manager agent hdvmagt_setting command to configure the central
management method settings. (This is recommended.)
3. Write the command device settings into the perf_cmddev.properties file.
To write the settings into the file, execute the perf_findcmddev command or edit the file
directly.
CAUTION:
If you are using the Device Manager agent version 6.3 or earlier and you want to use
a storage system in an SLPR environment, directly edit the perf_cmddev.properties
file to define command devices for SLPRs.
If you upgrade the Device Manager agent from version 6.3 or earlier to version 6.4 or
later, the settings in the perf_cmddev.properties file remain unchanged. If you
are using a storage system in an SLPR environment, after the upgrade installation finishes,
refresh the information of SLPR command devices defined in the perf_cmddev.prop-
erties file.
Preparing the Device Manager server to acquire performance information
For a Device Manager server property, specify the name of the host that will acquire performance
information.
Specify the name of the host on which the Device Manager agent is installed by directly editing the
server.cim.agent property in the server.properties file on the Device Manager server.
After the property is set, restart the P9000 Command View AE Suite product services.
CAUTION:
Make sure that the host name specified for the server.cim.agent property matches the host name
registered in Device Manager for the host that acquires performance information. If these host names
are different, you cannot acquire performance information.
