1. Back up the SQL Server database to the secondary volumes.
To perform an online backup of the SQL Server database, execute the drmsqlbackup command
on the source server.
PROMPT> drmsqlbackup SQL1
KAVX0001-I The drmsqlbackup command will now start.
KAVX1017-I SQL Server information is being collected now.
KAVX1207-I Backing up the database...
KAVX0040-I The backup ID has been assigned as follows:
Backup ID = 0000000001

When you execute this command, the backup information is registered in the backup catalog on
the source server under a new backup ID (the next unused ID). The following assumes that the
new backup ID is 0000000001.
2. Check the backup execution results.
To confirm that backup to the secondary volumes finished successfully, execute the drmsqlcat
command on the source server.

3. Export the backup information to a temporary file.
You must copy, to the distribution target server, the information pertaining to the operations
performed in backing up the primary volumes to the secondary volumes. To export the information
pertaining to the backup operations to the temporary file C:\temp\EX-FILE1.drm, execute
the drmdbexport command on the source server.
PROMPT> drmdbexport 0000000001 -f C:\temp\EX-FILE1.drm
