HP XP7 Replication Manager Application Agent CLI User Guide (TK981-96015, May 2014)

Using the Veritas Cluster Server for Windows
The status of the cluster resource groups must be online during backup. If it is not online, the backup
command (drmexgbackup or EX_DRM_EXG_BACKUP) will end in error.
The file system that stores registry replication data should not be backed up via Application Agent.
Make sure that you allocate such a file system to a disk group or physical disk that is not subject
to backup.
Application Agent uses Veritas Cluster Server Enterprise Agent for Microsoft Exchange to manage
the Exchange services and Exchange protocol services. Do not change the default name for the
resource type ExchService and ExchProtocol provided by Veritas Cluster Server Enterprise
Agent for Microsoft Exchange. Veritas Cluster Server Enterprise Agent for Microsoft Exchange is
bundled with Veritas Storage Foundation.
Using Microsoft Cluster Service or Windows Server Failover Clustering
If you are using Exchange Server 2007, note the following points:
Among the cluster resource groups, the Exchange System Attendant resource and the Exchange
Information Store resource must be online during backup. If they are not online, the backup com-
mand (drmexgbackup or EX_DRM_EXG_BACKUP) will result in an error.
Do not set the Exchange Information Store resource to go offline when the cluster resource to be
operated goes offline.
Cascade configuration
Backups in an SCC environment are supported.
Backups must be executed on the active server of a cluster.
A disk with Remote Copy defined must be registered as a disk resource of the cluster.
The primary volume of Remote Copy must be connected to the active server.
The secondary volume of Remote Copy must be connected to the standby server.
When you concurrently back up at both the local and remote sites, different backup servers must
be used at each site.
The Protection Manager service must be running at both the local and remote sites.
When you back up by using VSS, the VSXPHORCMINST_REMOTE system environment variable
must be set for the backup server at the remote site.
You must create a definition file for the cascade configuration. For details about creating a
definition file for the cascade configuration, see Creating a cascade configuration definition file
for Exchange database backup on page 150.
You must store the dictionary map files and backup catalog on different disks at both the local
and remote sites. These disks must be accessible regardless of whether the virtual server is online
or offline.
The dictionary map files at both the local and remote sites must be updated with the most recent
information.
The RAID Manager instance for managing Remote Copy must be active.
If the RAID Manager instance used for managing Remote Copy is the same as the RAID Manager
instance managed by Application Agent (the RAID Manager instance specified for the HORCMINST
parameter in the RAID Manager-linkage definition file), after you update the dictionary map files,
you must use the drmcgctl command at both the local and remote sites to lock the Remote Copy
copy groups.
Before you back up, you must use the RAID Manager command to set the Remote Copy pair status
to PAIR.
