Setting Up the Resource Access Facility (RACF) When Multiple Versions
of Business Continuity Manager Exist
In Business Continuity Manager 6.0 and later versions, you must set up the Resource Access Control
Facility (RACF) before using the product. In these versions, CLI command execution permissions
are checked by RACF.
Also, if you register user SVCs in an environment where Business Continuity Manager whose
version is earlier than 6.0 coexists with Business Continuity Manager whose version is 6.0 or later,
CLI command execution permissions are checked by RACF. Therefore, you must also set up RACF
before using the product in such an environment.
When you set up the RACF, you must add CLI command execution permissions to user accounts.
For details see “Setting Up the Resource Access Control Facility (RACF)” (page 31).
Registering a User SVC Dynamically
If a user SVC was registered using the YKALCSVC command for Business Continuity Manager
version 5.1 or later, you cannot use the YKALCSVC command for Business Continuity Manager
versions earlier than 5.1 to delete that user SVC. Therefore, if multiple versions exist in an
environment, make sure you use the YKALCSVC command of Business Continuity Manager version
5.1 or later.
User SVC for Suppressing IOS002A Messages
With Business Continuity Manager versions earlier than 6.1, user SVCs cannot be used to suppress
output of IOS002A messages when the I/O path between the host and the storage system is
disconnected while device scanning is being performed. Therefore, in a mixed-version environment,
make sure to always use user SVCs of Business Continuity Manager version 6.1 or later.
