HP P9000 Replication Manager Software 7.3.1-00 Configuration Guide

NOTE:
Replication Manager acquires configuration information from the Device
Manager server at the following times:
For a local Device Manager:
The configuration management information displayed in each window is
acquired from Device Manager when each source management window of
Replication Manager is displayed. You need not manually refresh the system
configuration information before using Replication Manager to set up a
storage system or define copy pair configurations.
For a remote Device Manager, all configuration information is acquired
when a configuration refresh is performed.
Acquiring copy pair statuses
Replication Manager sends a request to Device Manager Agent, which in turn uses P9000 RAID
Manager to collect the status of copy pairs from the storage system.
For a copy pair defined by the storage system (such as Remote Web Console), the status is ac-
quired from Device Manager server because the P9000 RAID Manager configuration definition
file is not available.
Acquiring performance information
Replication Manager issues a request to Device Manager Agent to acquire performance inform-
ation (such as the sidefile usage rate, pool volume usage rate, and write delay time (C/T delta)).
In turn, Device Manager Agent uses P9000 RAID Manager to obtain the data from the storage
system.
Creating and deleting copy pairs and changing copy pair statuses
Replication Manager issues a request to Device Manager Agent to create and delete copy pairs
or to change the status of copy pairs. The Device Manager Agent uses P9000 RAID Manager to
perform the operations on the storage system.
Data collection in mainframe systems
This section describes the data collection and flow of processing between programs in mainframe
systems.
