HP P9000 Replication Manager Software 7.3.1-00 Configuration Guide

Dynamic recognition of secondary volumes
When a secondary volume is dynamically recognized, do not use the LUN#0 disk among the physical
disks that are connected to the device adapter port for the primary and secondary volumes. When
the physical disk of LUN#0 is used, other physical disks might not be recognized.
When reinstalling Application Agent
When Application Agent is uninstalled, configuration files might remain. Before re-installing Application
Agent, you should manually delete the entire directory where Application Agent was installed.
Maximum number of Application Agent instances
The maximum number of Application Agent instances that can be registered is 128.
SQL server log distribution function
The SQL Server log distribution function can be used when SQL Server databases are backed up. To
do this, there must be two servers; a server from which to distribute the log files and a server to which
to send the log files.
For this type of configuration, Application Agent must be installed on both servers.
VSS Provider requirements
The following are requirements for RM Shadow Copy (VSS Provider) installed with Application Agent.
Software version
Replication Manager and Application Agent support VSS Provider 01.04.01 or later. The prerequisite
P9000 RAID Manager version is 01.19.04 or later.
Host Bus Adapter (HBA)
Make sure that both the HBA and HBA driver support VSS. Application Agent does not support Emulex
Full Port drivers.
When using a VSS Provider not bundled with Application Agent
Beginning with 7.1, the VSS Provider bundled with Application Agent is named P9000 RM Shadow
Copy. When Application Agent is upgraded, the VSS Provider is automatically upgraded as well.
However, if the currently installed VSS Provider was not originally bundled with Application Agent,
you must remove it manually and use Application Agent to install P9000 RM Shadow Copy.
Windows services
Before you install Application Agent, use the Services pane in the Windows Computer Management
console (for Windows Server 2003) or Server Manager console (for Windows Server 2008) to ensure
that the Windows services are set to the default settings as shown in the following table.
