Installing Host Data Collector
Even though prohibited special characters other than semicolon (e.g. @) can be specified in
installation path, after that Host Data Collector does not work properly.
If you specify the installation path, use the following characters:
A -Z, a-z, 0-9, left parenthesis [(], right parenthesis [)], single-byte space, backslash(\).
If Host Data Collector cannot be installed on the host with a supported operating system after
installing Device Manager, install Host Data Collector manually.
When Host Data Collector is installed on, or uninstalled from, a drive other than the system
drive, a temp folder is created on that drive. If you do not need this folder, delete it.
If the environment variable tmp in Windows includes characters other than the following, the
installation fails:
A-Z a-z 0-9 space ._() ~@#$^&()_+{}`-=[]',ó
In this case, temporarily change the path of tmp so that it contains only usable characters, and
then perform the installation.
When Host Data Collector is installed on a SUSE Linux server, Host Data Collector does not
start automatically after the operating system is rebooted. After the Host Data Collector
installation, execute the following command:
#chkconfig -s S99AP on
Installation of Host Data Collector by using the remote server might fail.
In this case, remove Host Data Collector, and store the target installation image on the server.
Then, install Host Data Collector again by using the installation image.
Overwriting a Host Data Collector installation
When an overwrite or upgrade installation of Host Data Collector is performed, an installation
message and button label might not be displayed correctly. If Host Data Collector cannot be
installed, uninstall and then re-install it.
After an overwrite installation, all Host Data Collector properties are set to their default values.
During an overwrite installation of Host Data Collector on Windows, information on the
installation directory and port number are not displayed correctly.
