7 Troubleshooting
This chapter explains what to do when CLI problems occur.
Troubleshooting the CLI
If a CLI problem occurs, do the following:
Make sure that the cause is not a software, computer, or LAN hardware problem, and then restart
the computer.
Make sure that no problems exist with the Tiered Storage Manager server.
The following table lists details about troubleshooting problems specific to the CLI.

management permission and grant
the necessary Tiered Storage Man-
ager permissions to the applicable
user.

the necessary Tiered Storage

Follow the instructions in the output
error message to correct the prop-
erty file settings.
Operation is not possible because
there is an incorrect property file
setting.
Commands are not executed as ex-
pected based on the settings spe-
cified in the htsmclienv.proper-
tiesfile.
Values specified directly from the
command line take preference over
the property file values. If you omit
the command line specification, the
property file value is used.
A parameter was specified dir-
ectly from the command line.
Commands are not executed as ex-
pected based on the settings spe-
cified in the htsmcli.proper-
tiesfile.
Follow the instructions in the output
error message to correct the prop-
erty file settings.
Operation is not possible because
there is an incorrect property file
setting.
