It does not belong to a resource group used for data migrations that use virtual IDs.
If more than one logical unit is specified, all of them must have the same cache mode.
The following conditions apply only to P9500 with a microcode version earlier than 70-02-00-XX/XX:
If more than one logical unit is specified for a THP/Smart pool, internal volumes and external
volumes cannot be mixed together.
If more than one logical unit is specified for a THP/Smart pool, all of them must have the same
RAID level.
If more than one internal volume is specified for a THP/Smart pool, up to three types of logical
units with different drive types or rotational speeds can be used.
#
However, if the microcode version is earlier than 70-01-40-XX/XX, logical units that have different
drive types or rotational speeds cannot be used for a THP/Smart pool.
To specify more than one logical unit for a Smart pool, external volumes cannot be used.
The following conditions apply only to P9500 with a microcode version of 70-02-00-XX/XX or later:
If external volumes are used for a Smart pool, the cache mode for the volumes must be ON.
If both internal and external volumes are used for a THP/Smart pool, the cache mode for the ex-
ternal volumes must be ON.
However, if a THP/Smart pool was created when the microcode version was earlier than 70-02-
00-XX/XX, the THP/Smart pool cannot contain both internal and external volumes, even if the
microprogram is upgraded to 70-02-00-XX/XX or later.
The following conditions apply only to P9500 with a microcode version of 70-02-00-XX/XX or later,
or earlier than 70-04-00-XX/XX:
If more than one logical unit is specified for a THP/Smart pool, up to three types of logical units
with different drive types or rotational speeds can be used.
#
However, logical units with the same drive type and rotational speed must also have the same
RAID level.
If the microcode version is earlier than 70-03-30-XX/XX and more than one logical unit is specified
for a THP/Smart pool, RAID 1 must not be mixed together with other RAID levels.
#
The specifiable drive types are SSD, SAS, and SATA. Only SAS drives are distinguished by the
rotational speed.
Only one type of external volume is allowed, regardless of the drive type and rotational speed
of the actual volumes.
The following conditions apply only to XP24000/XP20000:
If more than one logical unit is specified, internal volumes and external volumes cannot be mixed
together.
If more than one internal volume is specified, all of them must have the same drive type.
For external volumes, HP does not recommend that you use logical units with different drive types
for a THP pool.
If more than one logical unit is specified, all of their drives must have the same rotational speed.
If more than one logical unit is specified, all of them must have the same CLPR number.
