AddStorageArray
AddStorageArray searches for storage systems (including SMI-S enabled storage systems), and
registers the storage system information (such as the IP address, user ID, and password) into the Device
Manager server database. For the registered storage systems, AddStorageArray modifies the
registered information, and refreshes the storage system configuration information (that is, updates
the configuration information). When you modify the registered information, you can modify the values
other than the storage system type (whose parameter is family).
When you execute the AddStorageArray command for SMI-S enabled storage systems, note the
following:
If one SMI-S provider manages multiple SMI-S enabled storage systems, all of the SMI-S enabled
storage systems supported by Device Manager are registered into the Device Manager server
database at the same time.
If multiple SMI-S providers manage one SMI-S enabled storage system that has already been re-
gistered in the Device Manager server database, when another of the managing SMI-S providers
is registered, the storage system is not re-registered for that provider and is not refreshed.
If the number of SMI-S enabled storage systems managed by an SMI-S provider changes, you
must re-register all the storage systems into the Device Manager server database by specifying
the SMI-S provider they are registered to.
If you change the user ID or password of an SMI-S provider, you must re-register that SMI-S provider
by specifying the new user ID or password. When you do this, all the SMI-S enabled storage
systems registered in the Device Manager server database are refreshed.
If you change the SMI-S provider that manages an SMI-S enabled storage system, or if you
modify the information about the SMI-S provider (such as the IP address, port number, or protocol),
you must refresh the SMI-S enabled storage system. When you do this, specify the object ID of the
SMI-S enabled storage system registered in the Device Manager server database and the new
SMI-S provider information.
