HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.4 Troubleshooting and FAQs Guide (T1789-96336, April 2012)

When does P9000 Performance Advisor enter the grace period for an XP or
P9000 disk array?
P9000 Performance Advisor initiates a grace period of 60 days when either of the following conditions
is met:
During Instant-on period (first time upgrade or installation of P9000 Performance Advisor v4.5 or
later version):
The Instant-on license period of 120 days is over and a permanent license is not yet installed
for any of the XP or P9000 disk arrays. In this case, P9000 Performance Advisor initiates a
grace period of 60 days on all the XP and P9000 disk arrays
You have installed a permanent license on P9000 Performance Advisor for at least one XP or
P9000 disk array during the Instant-on period. In this case, P9000 Performance Advisor initiates
a grace period of 60 days on all the other XP or P9000 disk arrays
After the Instant-on period is over:
Every time your XP disk array raw disk capacity or the P9000 usable capacity exceeds the P9000
Performance Advisor licensed capacity (which is a summation of permanent, term, and emergency
licenses that you may have installed for that array)
If additional raw disk capacity is added to an XP disk array or usable capacity
is added to a P9000 disk array during the grace period, will Performance Advisor
monitor the additional capacities and perform new configuration data collections
for the XP or P9000 disk array during the grace period?
Yes. During the grace period, you can monitor an XP disk array for unlimited internal raw disk capacity
and a P9000 disk array for unlimited usable capacity. You can also collect configuration data for
the additional internal raw disk and usable capacities. This is possible only until the date the grace
period is valid.
If additional disk capacity is added to an XP disk array after the grace period
is over, will Performance Advisor monitor the additional disk capacity and per-
form new configuration data collections?
No. P9000 Performance Advisor does not monitor any new configuration changes made for your XP
disk arrays after the grace period is over and if required licenses are not yet installed. However, it
continues to collect performance data for the current internal raw disk capacities of your XP disk
arrays.
Is grace period applicable for term and emergency license types?
Yes. The grace period of 60 days is also applicable for term and emergency license types. After a
term or an emergency license expires, P9000 Performance Advisor enters a grace period of 60 days
for all the associated XP or P9000 disk arrays.
If the current version of P9000 Performance Advisor is upgraded to v5.0, is the
Instant-on license activated after the upgrade is complete?
Yes. The Instant-on license is available with P9000 Performance Advisor v5.0. By default, it is activated
when you perform a first time installation or an upgrade to v5.0
