3 Installing HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor
This chapter describes the process of installing HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor on a management
station. The installation process is described in the following topics:

If an earlier version of HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor exists on your management station and
you want to upgrade to the latest version, see “HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor and host agents
upgrade checklist” (page 103).
CAUTION: HP mandates not to manually copy or use the drag and drop feature to move the
PADB folder to the target management station, or another location on the source management
station. This action will result in irrevocable loss of data. Use only the Backup utility provided by
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor to migrate data. For more information, see the HP XP P9000
Performance Advisor Software User Guide.
Beginning the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor installation
NOTE: This section is also applicable for the upgrade process.
IMPORTANT:
Configure the antivirus and firewall policies on your management station and host to ensure
uninterrupted communication between the two systems.
If the following environment variables are already configured on the management station,
delete or rename them before the installation begins:
%ORACLE_HOME%
%ORACLE_SID%
%CATALINA_HOME%
You can recreate these variables or rename them back after the installation procedure
completes.
To begin the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor installation:
1. Log on to your management station as an administrator (administrator:administrator).
2. Insert the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor installation disk 1 into the DVD drive. If the
installation wizard does not start automatically, run the PA_Server.exe file from the HP XP
P9000 Performance Advisor installation disk 1.
Right-click the PA_Server.exe file and select Run as Administrator from the drop-down list,
if you are installing or upgrading HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor on a Windows
management station.
