Based on whether you have performed an installation or upgrade, do one of the following:
Return to the installation checklist to complete the remaining checklist items. For more
information, see “HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor and host agents installation checklist”
(page 20).
Return to the upgrade checklist to complete the remaining checklist items. For more information,
see “HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor and host agents upgrade checklist” (page 103).
If you want to install the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor UNIX host agents, see “Installing the
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor UNIX host agents (page 78).
Confirming the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Windows host agent services
To confirm whether the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Windows host agent services have
started:
1. Select Start+Run, type services.msc, and press the Enter key.
The Services dialog box appears.
2. If the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Windows host agent has been installed, the status
of the following services are in the Started mode:
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Hostagent
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Realtime Server

The HP HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Realtime Server appears, only if
you have selected the real-time component while installing the host agent.
If the Windows host agent service has not started automatically, manually start the host agent
service. For more information, see “Starting, stopping, and restarting host agent services” (page
124).
Installing the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor UNIX host agents
NOTE: This section is also applicable for the upgrade process.
This section describes installing the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor UNIX host agents. The
installation process is described in the following topics:

Executing the UNIX host agent installer
IMPORTANT: Before proceeding with the installation, use HP XP P9000Info to verify that the
connectivity to the command device is established. If you are performing an upgrade, the
connectivity to the command device must already exist. For more information, see “Verifying host
agent connectivity to a command device (page 44).
To execute the UNIX host agent installer:
1. Telnet to the remote host as a root user.
2. Navigate to the tmp directory or to the folder, where you have copied the host agent files.
