Performing checks using the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Installation
Assistant
The HP XP P9000 Installation Assistant is a smart utility designed to perform a few basic checks
before installing or upgrading the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor v6.0, after installing or
upgrading, and after uninstalling the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor v6.0 on a management
station.
NOTE:
The HP XP P9000 Installation Assistant utility is available only with HP XP P9000 Performance
Advisor v5.5.1 and v6.0.
Run the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Installation Assistant on the system on which the
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Management Station will be installed.
Do not run the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Installation Assistant while running the
installer.
Copy the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Installation Assistant to the management station
from the DVD before running, else the log file will not get generated.
To run PA Installation Assistant, your system requires .NET framework 2.0 to be installed on
your system.
Double-click the PA Installation Assistant.exe file available on the DVD #2. The HP XP
P9000 Installation Assistant GUI opens. The HP XP P9000 Installation Assistant has five tabs:
Pre-Install, Post-Install, Pre-Upgrade, Post-Upgrade, and Post-Uninstall tabs. Click on the Start button
to start the respective checks. All the checks done by the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor
Installation Assistant are logged in the PA_INSTALL_ASSISTANT_LOG file. This file will be
available in the same location as the PA Installation Assistant.exe file. After the next
check, the log entries are archived into the log file having a name similar to LOG_8-31-2012
12-20-45 PM where 8–31–2012 indicates the date and 12–20–45 PM indicates the timestamp.
This utility performs the basic verification in the following scenarios:
Pre Installation, before a fresh installation of HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor
Post Installation, after the installation of HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor
Pre Upgrade, before upgrading HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor
