If you plan to install a UNIX host agent, ensure that you install the supported JRE version on your
UNIX host before you being the host agent installation. Also, the Path environment variable on
your host must point to the installed JRE location. To set the Java PATH, enter the following command
in the command prompt window:
export PATH=$PATH:/opt/java1.6/bin
The PATH variable is set for the current session.
To determine the JRE version installed on your host, see the procedure under “Software (page 28).
IMPORTANT:
For a Windows host agent, the installation wizard automatically installs the compatible JRE
version on the host.
Only 32-bit (X86) JRE version is supported on both the 32-bit (X86) and 64-bit (X64) host
agent platforms, except for RHEL v6.1 64–bit (X64) host agent where 64-bit (X64) JRE version
is used.
For a Linux host agent, JRE must be installed using its .rpm package. It ensures that the JRE
gets registered with the RPM database. Starting Performance Advisor 5.5 release, 64–bit JRE
must be installed on both RHEL and SUSE Linux (x86_64 platform). For 32–bit Linux (both
RHEL and SUSE), use 32–bit JRE.
Starting Performance Advisor v6.0 release, you must have libstdc++ installed for Linux host
agents.
Starting Performance Advisor v6.0 release, the minimum JRE version required for Unix host
agents is v1.6.
Configuring settings on Windows and UNIX hosts
You must configure the following settings on your Windows and UNIX hosts prior to installing the
respective host agents:
“Getting administrator privileges on a Windows or UNIX host (page 37)
“Setting up the HP-UX, Solaris, and AIX hosts” (page 37)
