1. Click Physical View to open the LDEV Information window.
2. Click VIEW for the desired frame on the ARRAY GROUPS view.
3. Select the desired parity group in the Frame Information window, and then select the desired
array group on the next Frame Information window.
4. From the LDEV list, select the LDEV that you want to convert into a command device. The details
of the selected LDEV are displayed in the LDEV Information display area.
NOTE: The LDEV CONFIG button in the LDEV Information display area is enabled only when
you select a LDEV from the LDEV list.
5. In the LDEV Information display area, click LDEV CONFIG to enable the selected LDEV as a
command device.
The LDEV Information display area consists of the following display areas:
LDEV List (top left corner of the window)
Array Group Info (top right corner of the window)
LDEV Information (bottom corner of the window)
Creating a command device for a P9000 disk array
NOTE: The following procedure details the steps on creating command devices for a P9500 Disk
Array. These steps are also applicable for the other P9000 disk array models.
Complete the following steps to create a command device from Command View AE:
1. Open an IE browser window and enter http://<ip_address>:23015/DeviceManager/
address in the browser address line to access the HP XP P9000 Command View AE Device
Manager.
2. Launch Replication Manager using one of the following ways:
From the Command View AE Tools+Replication Manager.
Open an IE browser window and enter
http://<ip_address>:23015/ReplicationManager/ address in the browser
address line.
Ensure that you created new volumes and also paths for the new volumes in the P9000 disk
array before launching Replication Manager.
3. In the Replication Manager GUI, perform the following steps:
a. In the Explorer menu, select Resources+Storage Systems.
The Storage Systems window appears.
b. Expand the object tree, and select the P9500 storage system under Storage Systems.
The P9500 storage-system-name window appears.
c. Click Open.
The Open window appears.
d. In the Cmd Devs section, click Add Cmd Devices.
The Add Command Devices Wizard begins.
e. Select the newly added volumes and create command devices as instructed by the wizard.
The newly added command devices are displayed in the Open window.
