Normally, a host is a computer on which
application programs are installed. Device
Manager Agent is also installed on a host. A host
uses storage systems as external storage systems.
Installing Device Manager Agent is optional. If
you install Device Manager Agent on a host, you
can view information about that host (such as IP
address and mount points) from Replication
Manager.

DescriptionSoftware
Used to centrally manage the replication of storage system volumes in large-scale
system configurations.
Replication Manager includes P9000 Command View AE Common Component,
a collection of functions that are shared by P9000 Command View AE suite
products. Common Component is installed as a component of the P9000
Command View AE suite server products and is upgraded with the latest version
during installation.
Replication Manager
Used for integrated management of resources and for configuring storage system
hardware. You can run and manage a system that consists of multiple storage
systems.
An instance of Device Manager server running on the same management server
as Replication Manager is called an instance of "local Device Manager". Instances
of Device Manager running on the a management server different from the
management server on which Replication Manager is running are called instances
of "remote Device Manager".
Note that even when the instance of Device Manager server is running on a
primary site, if Replication Manager is running on a different management server,
the instance of Device Manager server on the primary site is still called "remote
Device Manager".
Replication Manager performs copy pair operations and other operations on
volumes of storage systems that are managed by Device Manager server. For
details about this server, see the HP P9000 Command View Advanced Edition
Suite Software Administrator Guide.
Device Manager server
Device Manager agents instruct P9000 RAID Manager to perform copy pair
operations in response to requests from Replication Manager and provide Device
Manager server with host information. For details about these agents, see the HP
P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite Software Administrator Guide.
