HP XP P9000 Replication Manager Software 7.6.1-00 Configuration Guide

1. Device Manager, Tiered Storage Manager, Replication Manager, and Host Data Collector are
always installed at the same time.
Table 13 Agent virtual memory requirements
RequirementAgent
Specify the virtual memory size values using the server.agent.maxMemoryS-
ize property. (See the HP P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite
Software Administrator Guide for more information.)
Device Manager
If Application Agent is installed on the management server, you need to allocate
additional virtual memory. See Virtual memory for more information.
Application Agent (Replica-
tion Manager)
Example calculation
For example, it is necessary to allocate a virtual memory capacity greater than 6280 MB when
operating a management server under the following conditions:
The memory heap size of Common Component is set to medium.
The memory heap size of the Device Manager server is set to medium
Only P9000 Command View AE Command Suite (Device Manager, Tiered Storage Manager,
Replication Manager, and Host Data Collector) is installed on the management server.
1000 MB of virtual memory is already allocated for the operating system and other programs.
The calculation is as follows:
1780 (Common Component)
+ 3500 ( P9000 Command View AE Command Suite)
+ 1000 (Allocated virtual memory)
= 6280
Disk space for Replication Monitor log files (5.x upgrade only)
To determine the space required for backing up the Replication Monitor log file, use the following
formula (which uses the settings in the logger.properties file)
logger.MaxBackupIndex * logger.MaxFileSize
For details about the logger.properties file, see logger.properties on page 99.
NOTE:
The configuration must always be refreshed when Replication Monitor is upgraded from v5.x to v7.x
Resource Limits
The maximum number of resources that can be managed by Replication Manager depends on the
memory heap size (Small, Medium, or Large). Set an appropriate memory heap size, depending on
the maximum number for each resource.
