NOTE:
Although not shown in this simplified diagram, all requests for HP StorageWorks P9000 for Business
Continuity Manager from Replication Manager are handled by BCM Agent (which resides on the
same host as BCM).
Acquiring and deleting copy pair configuration information
Replication Manager issues a request to HP StorageWorks P9000 for Business Continuity Manager
to acquire or delete copy pairs. BCM performs the operations on the storage system.
Acquiring and changing copy pair statuses
Replication Manager issues a request to HP StorageWorks P9000 for Business Continuity Manager
or P9000 mainframe agent, which acquires the status of copy pairs from the storage system.
(Only BCM can change the status.)
Acquiring performance information
Replication Manager issues a request to HP StorageWorks P9000 for Business Continuity Manager
or P9000 mainframe agent to acquire performance information from the storage system (such as
the sidefile usage rate, journal volume usage rate, pool volume usage rate, and write delay time
(C/T delta)). The journal volume usage rate is acquired as described in Acquiring license
information.
Acquiring license information
To acquire license information for the volume replication functionality in mainframe systems,
Device Manager server must be registered as an information acquisition source.
Replication Manager obtains this license information from the Device Manager database (acquired
from the storage system).
