also be installed. The ESEUTIL command does not need to be installed for any other versions of
Exchange Server.
The ESEUTIL command must be copied into the Application Agent installation folder. Copy the
following files from Exchange-installation-directory\bin to
Application-Agent-installation-directory\DRM\bin\util:
• ESE.dll
• ESEUTIL.exe
• EXCHMEM.dll
• EXOSAL.dll
TIP:
It is not necessary to perform this operation if you are using Exchange Server 2007 or later.
Environment variables
Do not specify HORCMINST or HORCC_MRCF in a system environment variable. Also, do not specify
HORCM_CONF or HORCMPERM in a system or user environment variable.
HORCM options and P9000 RAID Manager
HORCM_DEV, HORCM_LDEV, or HORCM_LDEVG need to be specified in the configuration definition
files of P9000 RAID Manager instances used by Application Agent.
If you are going to manage a copy group defined by device group, HORCM_LDEVG needs to be
specified in both the P-VOL and S-VOL configuration definition files. (If you omit HORCM_LDEVG, the
P-VOL might be disconnected from the database server when you perform an Application Agent
operation.)
Make sure that there are no copy pairs consisting of disks that are not connected to the server in the
database server and the file server.
Copy pairs and backup/restore operations
A copy pair that is a target of backup and restore operation cannot be assigned as a network drive.
The P-VOL of a file system that is a target of backup and restore operations needs to be mounted.
Application Agent versions on database and backup servers
The same version of Application Agent must be installed on database and backup server pairs. Do
not, for example, install version 6.3 on the database server and 6.4 on the corresponding backup
server.
Remote copy type support
Microsoft Exchange Server uses VSS to create replicas. Because VSS only supports Cnt Ac-S for remote
copies, Replication Manager must use Cnt Ac-S to create remote replicas. (Cnt Ac-A and Cnt Ac-J
remote replicas are not supported. VSS does not allow the split time to exceed 10 seconds, and these
copy types cannot meet this requirement.)
Because Microsoft SQL Server does not use VSS (it uses VDI), there is no limitation on the remote copy
type for linkage with Microsoft SQL Server. Cnt Ac-S, Cnt Ac-A, and Cnt Ac-J are also supported.
