Setting alter
nate paths for external LUs
Before using a
n external LU mapped as an internal LDEV, you must set at least one alternate path from the
internal LDEV
to the external LU (likely by way of an alternate controller). The number of alternate paths
set is the same as the number specied on the Add LU or Auto Map Setting window when the LU was
mapped as the internal LDEV. For more information, see Alternate paths.
Use the Path Setting window (Figure 51)toaddanddene alternate paths to the paths set at mapping or
change the al
ternate paths.
NOTE:
You can add or delete alternate paths by selecting multiple external LUs at one time. For more
information, see Adding alternate paths by selecting multiple external LUs (Add Paths) and Deleting
alternate paths by selecting multiple external LUs (Delete Paths).
CAUTION:
You cannot d
elete all the current alternate paths to substitute newly-added alternate paths for them in
one operation. To replace all the current alternate paths with newly-added alternate paths, you need to
perform more than two operations and leave at least one current alternate path setting when you perform
the rst operation. For the detailed procedure, see section 5.5.5.
Use the Path Setting window (Figure 51)todene alternate paths.
You can perform the following operations on the Path Setting window:
•Dening alternate paths
Changing a dened alternate path priority
Canceling alternate path denitions
Changing alternate paths
5.5.5 Replacing all the alternate paths with newly-added alternate paths.
The Path Setting window displays information about external arrays and the condition of paths set from
the internal LDEV to the external LU.
