• Full name or domain (including the fully qualified domain name)
• DNS entries corresponding to the hostname and domain
If any of these attributes change after Insight Management has been installed and the CMS
Reconfigure tool was not used, many features of the solution fails to function properly. For more
information on how to use CMS Reconfigure tool, see the “CMS Reconfigure Tool” section in the
HP Systems Insight Manager User Guide available from the HP SIM Library, located at http://
www.hp.com/go/insightmanagement/docs.
Consider using the Data Migration Tool to migrate existing data onto a newly installed CMS that
will use the new hostname or IP address. For more information on how to perform this migration,
see the Data migration of an existing Microsoft Windows CMS to a new Insight Management
system white paper available from the Matrix OE Information Library, located at http://

Step 1: Signing in to the Central Management Server
To begin an installation or upgrade, sign-in to the operating system on the CMS as a user with
administrative privileges.
NOTE: If you are performing an upgrade, you must sign-in using the same user name and domain
that was used for the initial installation.
Step 2: Starting the HP Insight Management Installer
1. Launch the Installer.
• If you have copied the contents of the HP Insight Management DVD #1 to a hard drive
or are using an ISO mounting utility, double-click the autorun.exe file.
• If you are installing directly from the DVD, insert HP Insight Management DVD #1. The
start-up window opens automatically.
2. Read the agreement and click Agree. The Welcome to the HP Insight Management DVD screen
appears.

Step 3: Running the Insight Management Advisor
HP recommends running the Insight Management Advisor before you begin the installation.
The Insight Management Advisor tests and evaluates the hardware and software configuration of
the CMS. Test results identify issues or deficiencies with the CMS that might negatively affect the
