Novell NetWare Networks (Windows 3.1 Client) 9
Configuring a Printer in Queue
Server Mode (NDS)
Novell Directory Services (NDS) gives you the ability to have
NetWare 4.x print queues and print servers in any NDS context.
The actual print queue, printer, and print server objects are created
using the Novell NWADMIN or PCONSOLE utilities. The
HP JetDirect print server is then assigned to this configuration
with the HP JetAdmin software using the following procedure.
Before you configure the HP JetAdmin software, make sure the
following tasks have been performed:
Internal print servers: The print server is installed in the printer
and the printer is connected to a network.
External print servers: The print server has power and is
connected to the printer’s parallel port and network.
The printer is turned on, is online, and you have printed an
HP JetDirect configuration page.
If you have not printed a configuration page from your printer, see
the hardware installation guide for your print server or your
printer’s getting started guide for instructions.
Note If you are servicing NDS and Bindery queues on the
same file servers, the HP JetDirect print server will
log onto the server twice, taking two user licenses.
There are two main parts to configuring the print server for NDS:
Create the print queue, printer, and print server objects using
Novell NWADMIN and assign the objects to one another.
Use the HP JetAdmin software to configure the print server.
