10. To share the printer with others on your network: for Windows
NT click
Shared
, then enter a name in the
Share Name
box.
For Windows 2000, click
Share as
, then enter a name in the
provided box. If you want this printer to support additional
platforms, select the appropriate platform names.
11. Click
Next
.
12. To print a self-test page and confirm that the printer is set up
correctly, click
Yes
.
13. Click
Finish
to complete the configuration.
The printer you have just set up can be accessed from the local
computer at this time. If you shared the printer, the printer can also
be accessed from client computers.
Connecting to a Printer from a Client
Once a printer has been created, connected to a network port, and
given a share name, other clients on the network can access the
printer.
Note If you are sharing a printer on a network operating
system, please contact your network operating
system vendor for support.
Windows for Workgroups and NT 3.51
1. Double-click
Print Manager
.
2. Click
Printer
in the menu bar, then click
Connect to Printer
(or
Connect Network Printer
).
3. Navigate to the server that is sharing the printer.
4. Select the shared printer, then click
OK
.
The printer is added to the
Printers
folder on the client and can
be used on the client machine. If necessary, drivers are installed
on the workstation that is going to use the shared device.
