logical disk A partition or logical disk that may contain a file system or database or be used
by a volume manager or hypervisor to present higher order volumes. Volumes
are backed by capacity that has been carved from lower level capacity meaning
that the source of the capacity has been identified. In SPM a volume is a type
of service.
logical unit The entity within a SCSI target that executes I/O commands. Each logical unit
exported by an array controller corresponds to a volume.
