5 Troubleshooting
This chapter is divided into three sections:
“Configuration troubleshooting” (page 25)
“HP Insight Recovery troubleshooting” (page 28)
“HP Insight Recovery log files” (page 32)
Configuration troubleshooting
To troubleshoot HP Insight Recovery configuration operations, take note of any on-screen error
messages, then review this section for relevant information. You can also view the mxdomainmgr
log files for additional information.
The following troubleshooting issues are addressed in this section:
Unable to add or edit Site information Possible causes include:
— The local or remote CMS name provided is not valid (not a fully qualified domain name
or locatable in the DNS).
— The local or remote CMS name does not include a fully qualified name associated with
the local host.
Unable to add or edit Storage Management Server information Possible causes include:
The Storage Management Server is not discovered in the Insight Dynamics user interface.
The credentials associated with the Storage Management Server in the Insight Dynamics
user interface do not include the user name provided as part of a Storage Management
Server configuration that has been added or edited.
— The Insight Dynamics user interface is unable to communicate with the Storage
Management Server.
Communication Failure with Storage Management Servers may be the result of Open-SSH
not being installed or configured on the target system.
Unable to add or modify EVA Storage Management Server
Possible causes include:
— The CIMOM Server is not running on the Storage Management Server.
— The CIMOM server is configured to use a different port than the one specified for add
or edit operations.
— The specified user does not have a valid sign-in on the Storage Management Server
with appropriate privileges.
Unable to add or edit EVA Storage Replication Group Possible causes include:
— Unable to obtain Storage Replication Group information from Command View servers
to validate the Storage Replication Group information provided by the user.
Unable to add or edit XP Storage Replication Group Possible causes include:
— The Storage Replication Group is not configured to be managed by the RAID manager
instances.
— The RAID manager service is not running on the local Storage Management Server.
— The parameters entered for the Storage Replication Group (local array, remote array,
serial number, and replication mode) do not match the Storage Replication Group
information on the disk array.
Insight Recovery logical server configuration inconsistent with LSM logical server
configuration Possible causes include:
