Additional Components are downloaded from the Internet
The SMS Inventory Tool for HP ProLiant and Integrity Update is designed to download
software components from the Internet that are updated by HP on a regular basis. The
following components are downloaded from the Internet:
• HP Catalog (Catalog.cab) - This CAB file contains multiple XML files
published by Hewlett-Packard Company that lists all available updates for HP
ProLiant and Integrity servers that are available from Hewlett-Packard Company.
The SMS Inventory Tool for HP ProLiant and Integrity Update uses these XML
files to determine which HP updates are installed on your computers and which
updates are applicable. The Sync Tool automatically downloads the latest version
of the CAB file on a regular basis so that the CAB file can be distributed to the
computers in your organization by using the SMS software distribution feature.
• HP ProLiant SmartStart components, Integrity SmartSetup components,
ProLiant Support Pack and Integrity Support Pack (CPxxxxxx.exe, PSP-
xxxxxxxx.EXE, ISPxxxxxxxx.EXE) - These self-extracting intelligent installers
will be downloaded through the DSUW authorization process.
CONNECTIVITY WORKAROUND: If the SMS site server computer does not have
access to the Internet, obtain the necessary files from hp.com. The default catalog URL is
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software2/COL3293/catalog.cab and each
component can be found in the SmartStart CD or downloaded from the hp.com web site
by simply type the file name in the hp.com search engine.
For Integrity Servers, SMS Inventory Tool for HP ProLiant and
Integrity update will not recognize HP software prior to version
3.4
ISSUE: IPF software updates can’t be applied to the system because the user has no
support pack installed or has a support pack of a release prior to 3.4.
WORKAROUND: SMS will not recognize HP software prior to version 3.4 for update
from the HP catalog. Install support pack version 3.4 or later or install the software
updates manually.
