5.5 PatchiX Training

Figure 6-2. Patch detail, patch dependencies view
(patch dependency disqualifies)
This signifies that the patch has some dependency on another patch that has not qualified
for the system. To determine what the dependent patches are and their current
qualification status choose the View(8) = Patch Dependencies view (see Figure 6-2
above).
(enhancements must be forced)
A FOS enhancement is a release of new operating system functionality in the form of a
patch. This is often a way to deliver support for new peripherals. Many of our customers
have been unhappy with having enhancements put on their system automatically, because
they can cause time consuming re-configuration. For this reason HP Patch/iX will by
default disqualify enhancements, that were delivered on the PowerPatch. If you
determine that you want the functionality you can choose to force the patch to qualify.
Note: if the patch that contains the enhancement was delivered reactively then it will
automatically qualify for the system.
(a newer version of patch was detected)
If a newer version of the patch is available in the set of available patches. The version ID
of a patch is the last character in the 8 character patch id. For example, the patch
MPEHX12B is a newer version of the patch MPEHX12A. To force this type of patch you
must first veto the newer version of the patch, then force this version of the patch.
