MPE/iX NOTES
The current MPE/iX
implementation of file first examines a file’s MPE/iX file code and type
and if it is a non-byte stream file, file reports this information. If it is a byte stream file,
file proceeds as described in the DESCRIPTION section of this man page.
In addition, this release of
MPE/iX does not provide the lstat() API. As a result, this com-
mand cannot return information on the link itself. It attempts to determine when a symbolic
link has been referenced, but can only return the information on the target of the link, rather
than the link itself.
