MPE/iX Version of STM

handle system logs (e.g. auditing, security, etc.) not covered by the STM version of logtool. To start
this version of logtool, simply enter logtool at the OS prompt.
In later phases, STM on MPE/iX is planned to include verifiers, exercisers and other tools.
Newsflash: (Updated January 9, 2001) An early version of the mstm (menu) interface is included with
MPE/iX 6.5. At this time, we recommend you use cstm rather than mstm Testing indicates that mstm
works correctly for all configurations except for hardwired terminals connected to the console port. The
configurations that work correctly include remote connections (for example, a PC running Reflections),
terminals connected via DTC, and hardwired terminals NOT connected to the Console port. In contrast,
hardwired system consoles have interface problems, such as soft keys not working. If you try mstm and
run into problems, press the "Break" key, then enter "ABORT" at the MPE/iX prompt. All STM
functionality is currently available from the cstm (command-line) interface.
Newsflash: The harraymon daemon will not appear in the MPE/iX vesion of STM.
Differences From HP-UX Version of STM
If you are already familiar with STM on HP-UX, you will feel at home with STM on MPE/iX. However,
there are some differences to be aware of:
Different distribution and installation process.
Different file structure.
No xstm (XWindows GUI) interface for MPE/iX.
MPE/iX version initially contains a subset of the tools on the HP-UX version.
An additional standalone version of logtool to handle MPE/iX system logs.
Requires PH capability to run.

The STM pages at the above site apply to both the HP-UX and MPE/iX versions, so you may see
references to features that are not included in the MPE/iX version. For example, the pages cover xstm (the
graphics interface) which is not supported in MPE/iX.
