Samba – encrypted passwords
• Samba/iX 2.0.7 and earlier only supported plaintext
passwords
• Samba/iX 2.2.8a adds support for encrypted passwords
• Samba encrypted passwords are independent of MPE
user & account passwords
– stored in /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd
– maintained with /usr/local/samba/bin/smbpasswd utility
