Chapter 5 91
LAN Network Interface Configuration Screens
Internet Protocol Configuration
Fields Store & forward buffers
This field allocates buffers to support store-and-forward
over the network interface being configured. You must
allocate store and forward buffers if you are configuring
an internet gateway and packets from another network
will be forwarded over this network interface. You can
modify the number of store-and-forward buffers to
allow performance tuning for different network types.
HP recommends that you use 20 as the
store-and-forward buffers. Consult your HP
representative before modifying this value.
You do not need to allocate store-and-forward buffers if
you are configuring a non-gateway node on this
network. Leave the default (0) in this field to indicate
that this is a non-gateway node.
Default value: 0
Range: 0–50
NOTE If this node is a gateway node, HP recommends that you use 20 as the
store-and-forward buffers.
IP internet address
Enter the internet protocol (IP) address for the network
interface being configured.
There are two methods of entering an internet protocol
(IP) address within NMMGR:
1. Enter the fully qualified IP address (for example,
Class C, C 192.191.191 009)
OR
2. Enter only the network (nnn) and node (xxx)
portions of the IP address as four positive integers
between 0 and 255 separated by periods or blanks
(for example, 15.123.44.98).
You need not enter the following items as NMMGR
will fill these in:
– Class A, B, C
– Leading zeros for the network and node portion of
the IP address.
