FSE Management Console user properties
Each configured FSE Management Console user has the following properties, which are shown in the User

Password: the user’s password.
Permissions: one of the four available user profile types.
The predefined user profile types are the following:
•Monitoring

resources and to monitor system activity of the FSE implementation. They cannot list the configured
FSE Management Console users.
•Configuration
Users with Configuration permissions are enabled to add, remove, and modify the configuration of
the FSE resources, and to perform monitoring tasks. They cannot list the configured FSE
Management Console users.
Administration
Users with Administration permissions are enabled to modify the configuration of the FSE resources,
but cannot add or remove them. They can perform monitoring tasks. They cannot list the configured
FSE Management Console users.
Superuser
Users with Superuser permissions are enabled to manage all aspects of the FSE resources, perform
monitoring tasks, and list and manage the FSE Management Console users.
Configuration procedure
The general procedure for FSE configuration consists of the following:
Editing the configuration file in plain text format - entering parameter values.
NOTE: To avoid difficulties like missing or inappropriate parameters, it is recommended that you
refer to FSE configuration templates. They already contain all required parameters and provide
remarks on appropriate use of configuration variables.
Applying the configuration file with the appropriate command.
Different FSE resources are related to each other and therefore have to be configured in the appropriate
order, as follows:
1. Step 1: configuring FSE libraries and FSE drives” on page 60.
2. Step 2: configuring FSE media pools” on page 67.
3. Step 3: preparing HSM file systems” on page 67.
4. Step 4: configuring FSE partitions” on page 69.
5. Step 5: preparing FSE media” on page 72.
6. Step 6: mounting HSM file systems” on page 73.
Once FSE media are initialized, FSE medium volumes are configured automatically. They are related
accordingly to the FSE medium, FSE media pool and FSE partition.
