SANworks EVM allows parallel processing by creating a second copy of production data
for tasks such as data mining or migration, backups, upgrades, testing, or work
distribution.
Both the clone and snapshot methods can be used for backup. Snapshot is ideal for
nearline backup and recovery. Cloning is well suited for data warehousing, testing and
system migration.
CONFIGURATION RULES
Complete configuration rules for an EVM Network, the EVM Server and EVM Clients are
described in Enterprise Volume Manager for Compaq Tru64 UNIX Installation Guide and
online help.
Each EVM Network must have:
1 (and only 1) EVM Server.
The EVM Server node must have an HS Series Agent Version 2.3.1 installed and be
connected to an EVM-compatible StorageWorks subsystem.
Access to a qualified web browser.
1 EVM-compatible RA8000, ESA12000, MA8000 or EMA12000 StorageWorks
subsystem.
An EVM license is required for each EVM node.
Each EVM Network may have:
Up to 9 EVM Clients.
Clone and snapshot availability are dependent on the version of Array Controller
Software installed on the controller. Clone functionality is available on ACS V8.5F,
and V8.5S. Snapshot functionality is available on ACS V8.5S.
