1 Event Monitoring Service Version A.04.20.11.06, A.04.20.23.07, and A.04.20.31.08 Release Notes Announcement In this release, Event Monitoring Service™ (EMS) version A.04.20.23.07 and A.04.20.31.08 are being released for use on the Integrity and PA-RISC platforms with the HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3 operating system. Event Monitoring Service™ (EMS) version A.04.20.11.06 is being released for use on the PA-RISC platforms with the HP-UX 11i v1 operating system.

For more information on the command line options supported by emscli, refer to the emscli(1m) manpage. • • Management Information Base (MIB) Monitors - The following Management Information Base (MIB) monitors are provided with the EMS framework: ◦ HA Cluster Monitor checks the status of clusters, nodes, packages, and services of Serviceguard. ◦ HA Network Interface Monitor reports the status of LAN interfaces.

Disk requirements You will need approximately 8 MB of disk space on your system to install EMS. The following EMS log files require 4 MB of disk space in the/etc/opt/resmon directory: • api.log • registrar.log • client.log • emsagent.log • api.log.old • registrar.log.old • client.log.old • emsagent.log.old An additional 2 MB disk space is required for reslog.

Refer to the emscli(1m) manpage for more information. EMS-Config.EMS-GUI-COM Provides SAM’s interface to EMS, and contains EMS GUI help files. EMS-MIBMon Provides MIB (Management Information Base) monitors for cluster, networking interface, and system resources.

In the support mode the following is applicable: • No new EMS Monitors will be developed. Customers are encouraged to develop WBEM provider based monitors using the SysFaultMgmt framework rather than developing EMS monitors. • Monitoring for new platforms will be accomplished through WBEM based monitoring only using the SysFaultMgmt Product.
Known problems and workarounds The following are the known problems and workarounds: • QXCR1000814468 – EMSHAProvider registration fails if the WBEMServices version is earlier than A.02.05. The registration of EMSHAProvider module fails during the configure phase, when installing/updating EMS, if the version of WBEMServices product installed on the system is earlier than A.02.05. You can follow any of the following workarounds: ◦ Update the WBEMServices product to version A.02.
