Release Notes Contents Release Notes Contents These Release Notes cover the following major topics: • Hardware and Software Compatibility, page 4 • Limitations and Known Issues, page 7 Intended Audience This document is intended for customers who purchased EVM V2.0D and for HP authorized service providers responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining systems that include EVM server and EVM host agent software.
Hardware and Software Compatibility Hardware and Software Compatibility The following sections identify hardware and software that support this EVM host agent.
Hardware and Software Compatibility File System Support This EVM host agent supports the Advanced File System (AdvFS) and UNIX File System (UFS). AdvFS has the following limitations: • Each domain must be comprised entirely of HSG- or HSV-based storage systems. • No more than eight disks are allowed per AdvFS domain. • No more than 128 filesets are allowed per AdvFS domain. HBA and Driver Compatibility Supported Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) for this EVM host agent are shown in Table 1.
Hardware and Software Compatibility Set “AdvfsIORetryControl” to “1” During AdvFS domain replication operations, certain recoverable events might generate SCSI CAM driver errors. These errors are recoverable if “AdvfsIORetryControl” is not set to the default value (0). The default setting does not attempt retries and can result in a domain panic. To prevent domain panic, set the “AdvfsIORetryControl” parameter to a value greater than “0.” HP recommends setting this parameter to “1.
Limitations and Known Issues Limitations and Known Issues This section is an extension of a similar section in the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Version 2.0D Network Administration Guide1 (AA–RR0VB–TE) and can help avoid problems while using EVM V2.0D.
Limitations and Known Issues If any of these problems are encountered: 1. Verify that only the required RTE version is installed on the host. 2. Remove any other versions, if necessary. 3. Try a different browser version, if the problem persists. In most cases, these browser/RTE combinations display the EVM GUI correctly. However, variations in browser and Java technology on the various platforms can cause some GUI elements to display incorrectly.
Limitations and Known Issues Unit Style Replication Not Supported with AdvFS Domains The CLONE operation provides two syntax styles: • Unit syntax—replication sources are specified in terms of the applicable storage system and unit number. This method does not provide any mechanism for quiescing an AdvFS domain or gathering the meta data necessary to reconstruct a domain on the mount-on host. Unit style replication is suitable only for UFS or raw devices, and is not supported with AdvFS.
Limitations and Known Issues EVM sets the buffer size to a default value of 256 KB. This value should be large enough to accommodate most AdvFS configurations. If this setting proves insufficient, change the buffer size value via the XML_BUFFER_SIZE parameter in the sb.ini file. Restart the EVM host agent to allow this change to take effect. 10 Release Notes – Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Host Agent Version 2.
