HP WBEM Providers Install Conflict with Emulex CIM Providers
Fixed the issue where the Emulex CIM Providers fail to install on HP Proliant servers running VMware
ESXi 5.0 with HP WBEM Providers already installed; and the same install failure also happens
with HP WBEM Providers on servers running VMware ESXi 5.0 with Emulex CIM Providers already
installed. Both the Emulex CIM Providers and HP WBEM Providers can now be installed in the
current release of the HP WBEM Providers.
AMS and Active Health Installation
AMS and Active Health is shipped as part of the HP Custom Image, the HP ESXi Offline Bundle
and the new Agentless Management Service Offline Bundle. The HP Custom Image and the HP
ESXi Offline Bundle also include the HP Insight Management WBEM Providers. The AMS Offline
Bundle only includes the providers required to support online firmware update and SmartArray
reporting in vCenter. Customers can manage their ProLiant servers using Agentless Management
without installing the AMS Offline Bundle. Only customers who intend to manage their ProLiant
servers using only Agentless Management and do not need the full set of HP Insight Management
WBEM Providers installed should install the AMS Offline Bundle. See the Deploying and updating
vSphere 5.0 on Proliant servers white paper for more information.
If the customer has ESXi 5.0 and is currently using HP Insight Management WBEM Providers for
ESXi and requires Agentless Management and does not need the full set of providers installed,
they need to perform the following step:
Install the AMS Offline Bundle to replace the HP ESXi Offline Bundle
If the customer has ESXi 5.0 and is currently using Agentless Management and does not have the
full providers installed and wants to move to using HP Insight Management WBEM Providers for
ESXi, they need to perform the following step:
Install the HP ESXi Offline Bundle to replace the AMS Offline Bundle
HP-Qlogic devices not supported
There is no support for HP devices requiring the ESXi 5.0 Qlogic qla4xxx iSCSI driver in this
release. Drivers added after install may enable device functionality, but will not enable support in
HP management software.
HP-Brocade Fibre Channel HBA not supported by the HP ESXi 5.0 Custom Image March release
There is no support for HP devices requiring the Brocade bfa fibre channel driver in this release.
Drivers added after install may enable device functionality, but will not enable support in HP
management software.
SNMP zeroDotZero varbind OID
HP ProLiant servers running VMware ESXi 5.0 that use SNMP traps, enabled with the HP WBEM
Providers installed, generates HP SNMP traps with empty varbind OIDs. An empty varbind OID
is decoded by the MIB decoders as zeroDotZero.
An example of an invalid trap:
Where XX.XX.XX.XX is the IP address of the Receiver, YY.YY.YY.YY is the IP address of the Sender
and xxxxx is the hostname of the Sensor.
