BEFORE YOU START! To ensure optimal playability of backboard system, a close tolerance fit between the elevator components and hardware is required. Test-fit large bolts into large holes of elevator tubes, backboard brackets, and triangle plates. Carefully rock them in a circular motion to ream out any excess paint from holes if necessary. Proper and complete assembly, use and supervision is essential for proper operation and to reduce the risk of accident or injury.
NOTICE TO ASSEMBLERS ALL Huffy Sports Basketball Systems, including those used for DISPLAYS, MUST be assembled and ballasted with sand or water according to the instructions. Failure to follow instructions could result in SERIOUS INJURY. It is NOT acceptable to devise a makeshift weight system. IMPORTANT! Remove all contents from boxes. Be sure to check inside pole sections; hardware and additional parts are packed inside.

1. Mark pole sections with tape (not supplied) at indicated distances from ends as shown. TOP 1 MIDDLE 2 Tape (Not Supplied) 3 BOTTOM 2. Ensure ground is level with playing surface, then dig pole hole. WARNING! CONTACT UTILITIES BEFORE DIGGING. Note Maximum distance from edge of hole to edge of playing surface 6” (15.2 cm). 18" (42.7 cm) GROUND SURFACE 6" (15.
4. Fill hole approximately 1/3 full with concrete (FIG. A). 3. Insert and secure bottom pole section (3) into ground sleeve (4) by tightening ground sleeve cap (5). Tamp down concrete to release air pockets and build drainage hill. Level pole 5. section in all directions several times while concrete is curing. Note A Make a reference mark here for anti-skid tape. 1" (2.54 cm) Note B Keep flange pushed down to concrete and leveled. 1" (2.54 cm) SIDE VIEW IMPORTANT!: WAIT A MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS BEFORE GOING ON TO NEXT STEP. CONCRETE MUST CURE. 6. After concrete has cured, remove bottom pole section from ground sleeve (4).
7. Install ground sleeve cap (5) onto bottom pole section (1). Stack and bounce bottom (3) and middle (2) pole sections together. Bounce pole sections together until middle section no longer moves toward taped reference mark on bottom pole. Stack upper pole section (1) to bottom 8. pole assembly and continue bouncing until top pole (1) no longer move toward taped reference mark. 1 2 Taped reference marks 5 IMPORTANT!: 3 POLE SECTIONS SHOULD HAVE A 3-3/4" (9.5 CM) MINIMUM OVERLAP.
10. Attach spacers (10, 11) to pole mount bracket (7) with bolts (12), washers (13), and nuts (14) as shown. IMPORTANT! Tighten until washers (13) no longer move. 7 13 13 14 10 11 12 10 11 11. Assemble lanyard (17) to locking pin (18) as shown in FIG. A. Attach covers (15) onto pole mount bracket (7) with carriage bolt (16) and nut (9) as shown. IMPORTANT: Loop end of pin lanyard (18) over carriage bolt (16) during this assembly.
12. Apply logo and height indicator labels (19) to adjustment rod (20) as shown. Attach handle parts (21, 22) to adjustment rod with screw (23), carriage bolt (24), and flange nut (9) as shown. SIDE ACCESS 13. Insert handle assembly through pole mount assembly as shown. Lock pole assembly in place at the 10’ (3.05 m) mark with pin (18). NOTE: Holes in adjustment rod allow for either rear access or side access.
SECTION B: ASSEMBLE THE BACKBOARD TO ELEVATOR TUBES This is what your system will look like when you’ve finished this section: NOTE: ASSEMBLY WILL VARY DUE TO BACKBOARD STYLE. Use the following assembly instructions if you have a 44” molded plastic backboard (Rectangle or Fan) 1A. Install spacers (25) onto backboard brackets (26) with bolts (12, 27) and lock-nuts (14, 28) as shown. Bend bracket (26) to line up with holes in backboard. CAUTION: THIS BACKBOARD AND GOAL ARE NOT DESIGNED TO SUPPORT A PLAYER HANGING FROM THE GOAL OR NET. Use the following assembly instructions if you have a 48" molded plastic backboard (Fan) 2A. Install spacers (25) onto backboard brackets (26) with bolts (12, 27) and lock-nuts (14, 28) as shown. Use the following assembly instructions if you have a a 44” steel-framed acrylic backboard. 3A. Assemble backboard brackets to board as shown. Refer To Instructions Included With Backboard Hardware For Board Assembly. NOTE: Parts on this page are included in backboard mounting hardware.
3B. 30 Refer To Instructions Included With Rim Hardware For Rim Assembly. 3C. 30 NOTE: Peel protective film from surface of acrylic backboard prior to use.
Use the following assembly instructions if you have a 48” molded plastic-framed acrylic backboard. Install spacers (25), and springs (39) onto backboard 4A. brackets (26) with bolts (27, 36), washers (37) and lock-nuts (14, 28) as shown. Bend bracket (26) to line up with holes in backboard. 28 26 14 25 27 12 4B. Assemble elevator tubes (30) as shown. Tighten completely. IMPORTANT!: It is necessary for all parts to be instaslled for this mechanism to work safely and properly.

16. Support pole on sawhorse. Attach backboard assembly to top pole section (1). NOTE: Two people are required for this step, use caution, elevator assembly is heavy. 35 35 WARNING 29 TWO PERSON MINIMUM REQUIRED FOR THIS PROCEDURE. NOT FOLLOWING RECOMMENDATION MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. 30 33 1 33 33 33 29 30 31 31 17. Install handle assembly to long elevator tubes (30) using bolt (31), spacers (33), and nut (35) as shown.
18. 29 Insert bolt (31) through left side short elevator tube (29), then stretch spring or springs (34) onto bolt (31). Insert bolt (31) through right side short elevator tube (29) and secure with nut (35). 31 35 29 34 WARNING! USE EYE PROTECTION WHEN INSTALLING SPRINGS. 19. C N NOTE: Make sure that concrete does not bulge from the end of pole assembly. Allow concrete to completely cure. CO Secure pole end with tape (not included). Fill pole with concrete approximately 1” (2.
20. Install clips. WARNING! USE OF THIS PRODUCT WITHOUT PROPER INSTALLATION OF SMART CLIPS, OR WHEN ALL SMART CLIPS ARE NOT PRESENT COULD RESULT IN BODILY HARM. BE SURE TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY. CLIP “ARM” CLIP “BODY” 41 Insert one “arm” of clip into ram as shown. Twist “body” of clip slightly so that second “arm” slides over the top of the first “arm” as shown. Push in direction indicated by arrows. 42 A Push second “arm” back and into ram as shown.
NET INSTALLATION 21. 41 SIDE VIEW 42 NETCLIP 43 NET Insert net into bottom of clip as shown. SIDE VIEW Twist net until it snaps into position. Net must be centered through clip.
IMPORTANT!: WAIT A MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS BEFORE GOING ON TO NEXT STEPS. CONCRETE MUST CURE. 22. After concrete has cured, remove tape, install pole cap (40), fit pole assembly into sleeve (4). IMPORTANT! Position pole assembly so the elevator assembly is perpendicular with playing surface. 40 IMPORTANT! The elevator holes MUST be parallel with playing surface. WARNING TWO PERSON MINIMUM REQUIRED FOR THIS PROCEDURE. NOT FOLLOWING RECOMMENDATION MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
24A. Starting with nuts flush against bracket, secure rim and bracket to backboard. NOTE A: Do not use washers here on spring return style rim. WARNING 1 41 TWO PERSON MINIMUM REQUIRED FOR THIS PROCEDURE. NOT FOLLOWING RECOMMENDATION MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. WARNING IMPORTANT! Refer to instructions included with board and rim hardware for backboard and rim assembly, Note A WHEN MOUNTING THE BACKBOARD ASSEMBLY TO THE POLE IS PERFORMED AT AN ELEVATED HEIGHT.
25. A. While holding handle, remove pin (26). B. Move elevator up or down to desired height. C. Replace pin (26) full length to lock system at desired height. 26.
