What if the iControl box Power light does not turn on?
Make sure that the power cord is fully inserted into the power jack of the iControl box. If
the Power LED in the front of the box still does not turn on, there may be a problem with
your electrical connection. In rare instances, the iControl box or power supply may be
faulty.
What if I do not have a router or similar device?
A router or similar device that does DHCP is required so that the iControl Gateway and
associated devices are able to get IP addresses. You will plug the router or similar device
into your broadband modem.
What is the phone jack for?
A phone dial-up option will be available in a future version of the product.
When do the LEDs blink?
During normal operation, the Power LED should stay on steady green. The Device LED
turns on briefly when the iControl box is communicating with iControl devices. The
Status LED is on when there is communication between the iControl servers and the
iControl box. The LAN LED blinks rapidly when there is communication between the
router and the iControl box.
The iControl System
What Kind of Broadband do I need?
The iControl System will work with any broadband connection that does not have a high
amount of latency. Unfortunately this means that most Satellite brroadband connections
will not work with the iControl System.
When I tried using QuikControl why didnt anything happen?
When you select an action with QuikControl, a dialog box tells you how long it will take
for the change to occur. Usually this time is between 30 seconds to 3 minutes, depending
on a number of factors, including how recently your gateway communicated with the
iControl server.
During the indicated time window, the iControl servers receive your request,
communicate with your iControl box, and then initiate the local devices to act.
Finally, your Summary page is updated with the new settings or status. This
