Automations
Automations
Automations link a change in one device with the action of another device. For example,
you may program an iControl camera to take a picture if a Door/Window sensor detects
an open door. You can create any number of automations and specify in which modes
they will operate.
Sample Automations Window
Here is a sample Automations window taken from an iControl System that has
automations for a Motion sensor, a Door/Window sensor, and a Keychain Remote.
An automation consists of a change in one device (called a ‘trigger’) and the resulting
action of another device. Devices such as Door/Window sensors, Keychain Remotes, and
Motion sensors trigger when a door is opened, a button on a Keychain Remote is pressed,
or a room is occupied. These devices can cause actions such as a camera taking a picture
or a Lamp module turning lights on or off.
As suggested by the sample Automation window, there is a range of features to choose
from in designing your automations. The following bullets and screen shots provide
illustrative examples of the kinds of automations you can create.
