Common Tasks
Commonly Used Terms
The following briefly defines the terms commonly used in the iControl System:
x Alarms: An alarm is displayed in your Alarms window of your Summary
page when the device changes state such as when a Motion sensor
detects that a room Is occupied or unoccupied.
x Automations: Automations link a change in one device with the action of
another device such as when a Door/Window sensor detects a door open,
a camera takes a picture.
x Modes: Your system can operate in one of three modes: Home, Sleep, or
Away. Modes allow you to have your devices behave differently
depending upon the mode. By putting your System in Away mode, you
can activate all your sensors; by placing your System in Home mode, you
can ‘turn off’ your sensors when you are around your house or business.
x Notifications: You can have the iControl service send you emails and/or
SMS messages when, for example, a Door/Window sensor opens or a
camera takes a picture.
x Notify Lists: A list you create of the people you want notified via email
and/or SMS when an event occurs—a Motion sensor detects movement, a
picture is taken, etc.
x QuikControl: A shortcut to change modes, control lighting, change a
thermostat, or take a picture.
