Specification Update for the Intel® Desktop Board DX58SO This document is an update to the specifications contained in the Intel® Desktop Board DX58SO Technical Product Specification (Order Number: E51290). It is intended for hardware system manufacturers and software developers of applications, operating systems, or tools. It will contain Specification Changes, Errata, Specification Clarifications, and Documentation Changes.
Terminology Specification Changes are modifications to the current published specifications. These changes will be incorporated in the next release of the specifications. Errata are design defects or errors. Characterized errata may cause the desktop board behavior to deviate from published specifications.
Summary of Changes The following table indicates the Specification Changes, Errata, Specification Clarifications, or Documentation Changes that apply to the Intel® Desktop Board DX58SO. Intel intends to fix some of the errata in a future revision of the desktop board, and to account for the other outstanding issues through documentation or specification changes as noted. Update to Section 1.5 System Memory. 1.5 System Memory The Desktop Board supports the following memory and interface: • • • • Four 240-pin Double Data Rate 3 (DDR3) SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) connectors with gold-plated contacts arranged in two channels 1600+/1333/1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM Memory Modules Support for single- and dual-channel memory interleaving Unbuffered, non-registered single- or double-sided DIMMs with a voltage rating of 1.65 V or less.
NOTE DDR3 1600 or higher memory support on this desktop board requires compatible XMP enabled memory or advanced knowledge of BIOS and manual memory tuning. Individual results may vary.
