Selecting Properly Rated Cord
The current rating of the NEMA 5-15P-plug cap must be rated at a minimum of 125% of
the equipment electrical current rating. Therefore, once the systems electrical current
rating exceeds 80% NEMA 5-15P plug cap or current carry conductors, the next higher
plug cap rating and capacity wire gauge (AWG) must be used.
