Problem Possible Cause Action
No spark when one control knob is turned 1. Bad connection to switch harness or faulty
reignition module.
1. Check to ensure switch harness connection is OK.
2. Check that the wires are correctly attached to
switch.
3. Check that switch is correctly assembled on gas
valve shaft.
4. Replace switch harness if necessary.
Power to reignition module OK. One electrode is
not sparking.
1. Faulty spark lead/electrode or faulty reignition
control board.
1. Easy Check: To determine if reignition module or
lead is faulty, swap spark lead to another terminal
and check for spark.
Intermittent sparking after ignition 1. Generally the cause is bad ground which can
be caused from a buildup of cooking oils,
solids, cleansers, etc.
1. Clean and dry all parts and ensure burner is
correctly seated.
2. Burner ports blocked. 2. Clean and dry burner and electrode. Remember,
ame must be near electrode to sense current.
3. Flame sense fails. 3. The unit will spark if the current sensed by the
reignition control board drops below to a certain
level. Generally occurs at simmer or when the ame
is unstable caused by wind, etc. Check on high
power if sparking stops. Adjust gas valve regulation
screws. Clean and dry burner and electrode.
4. Spark gap to burner cap not correctly set. 4. Check that the cap is correctly seated on burner and
check electrode integrity.
5. Faulty reignition control board. 5. Replace after checking all of the above.
