2. Insert a SODIM M from the u pgrade kit at an angle of approximately 45 degrees
into an em pty c
eramic connector, so that t he notch in the lo ng gold edge of the
SODIMM align s with the notch in the connector.
The notch on th
e long gold edge is no longer visible when the SODIMM
is pressed in far enough.
3. Press the top s
urface downward into the socket until the socket spring snaps
into place and holds it.
4. Repeat Steps
2–3 with the other SODIMM.
5. Repeat Steps 1–4 for the other SRP module, if present.
Verifying the Upgrade
To verify that the upgrade is complete:
1. Place the S R P modules in the chassis.
The SRP modules reboot.
2. Close the eje
ctor handles and tighten the thum bscrews.
3. Issue the show hardware command, and verify that the display indicates that
the correct a
mountofmemoryispresent.
Replacing S
FPs on I/O Modules
This sectio
n describes how to replace small form-factor pluggable transceivers
(SFPs) on modules that support these devices. A range of SFPs that support
different optic al modes (multimode and single m ode) and cabling distances
is availabl
e. You can replace the SFPs without disabling the interfaces
or removing the module from the system.
WARNING: Do
not insert any m etal object, such as a screwdriver, or place your
hand into an open slot or the backplane when the router is on. Remove jewelry
(including r ings, necklace s, and watches) before working on e quipment that is
connected
to power lines. These actions prevent electric shock an d serious burns.
CAUTION: When handling electronic components, use an antistatic wrist strap
connected to the system’s ESD grounding jack, and hold components by their
edges. Do n
ot touch, pins, leads, or solder connections. Store components in
